getvefa

A life, told by the people who knew it.

getvefa talks with the family and friends of someone you've lost, gathers their stories, photos and videos, and edits them into a short documentary film.

getvefa is in development. We're preparing a closed beta with a small group of families.

From a few invitations to a finished film

  1. Invite

Start a project for the person you've lost and send private interview links to relatives and friends. Nobody has to install an app.

  2. Interview

An AI interviewer talks with each person by voice or video. It asks about a memory, listens, then follows up: who was there, what was said, what happened next.

  3. Gather

Every interview is transcribed and sorted by people, places, years and feelings, next to the photos and videos the family uploads.

  4. Edit

getvefa writes a story from what everyone remembered, picks the footage, sets the music and renders a 10 to 15 minute film for the family to keep.

A form asks for facts. People remember in stories, and the best details come out on the second or third question.

That's why getvefa doesn't hand out questionnaires. It listens to each answer and decides what to ask next, the way a documentary interviewer would. A grandmother can answer from her phone the same way she'd tell the story at the dinner table.

What the family keeps

  • The film: 10 to 15 minutes, Full HD, with music, ready to download.
  • Every interview as video and text, searchable by name, place and year.
  • The photos and videos everyone shared, together in one place.

These are a family's most personal recordings

  • Everyone gives explicit consent before they're recorded.
  • Recordings are encrypted at rest with AES-256.
  • Only the people the family chooses can see the film or the archive. Nothing is public by default.

We're building the interviewer and the story editor on Claude, by Anthropic. Transcription, photo understanding and video assembly run in a serverless pipeline that only works when a family does, so the cost of keeping a memory stays low.

vefa

A Turkish word for staying faithful to someone: remembering them, and keeping their story alive after they're gone.
